This is my situation have a 87 with spacer plate bought a new 310 kit from esr, trx7 port took to my local shop and had them rebuild. Told i needed a crank so I was sold on 4mm stroker . After getting bike back had a ticking sound coming from top , told that was common on these 310 kits from esr, ok so took it. Didnt ride it for a while ,so sat when i did take it out followed instructions from esr to the tee. After several rides had the ticking sound get worse, still ran but really upset. Took back to the shop and they stood by their work and rebuilt engine. After reading most of your posts on 250r.net figured you would be the guy to talk to, 1st ? port timing off, got 310kit for stock crank not 4mm engine 2nd? how can i tell if i do have 4mm crank . 3?how much to correct port timing. trx11 pipe, 39mmpwk ,esr cage, jetting to esr figures

I have a 1986 trx250r. Upon inspection of my oil I noticed that it was milkey like it had gotten water in it.I never even ride anywhere water so I knew it was entering from my cooling system. I changed all parts of my water pump aside for the shaft and impeller. I know my installation was correct but I did notice the washer that goes by the impeller was very rusty and the shaft had some rust on it also. My question is where else could water be entering my transmission oil from aside for the water pump? Wierd this is the coolant level never seems to drop nor does the oil level seem to rise. Also, Could the rusty washer and shaft be the culprit? I will be ordering the parts you recommend from your shop to try and get this thing back in order.

i went to the idaho sand dunes this summer and burnt my piston because i ran the jetting too lean, and i was wondering what the correct jet is for a 265 cylinder at 5000 ft with an fmf fatty pipe and stock keihin caurburetor

I need an ignition assembly for a 1984 TRX200 but they are obsolete and was wondering if a 1986 will work bc they look very similar?

1986 ATC/TRX 250R jetting Cylinder is bored .020 over stock with stock porting and new Wiseco piston and rings and a stock head. Pretty sure it has Boyesen Power reeds in it with stock cage and intake boot. It has an ESR TRX5 pipe and ESR silencer. Stock airbox with a cut lid. It has a brand new 35mm Keihin PWK Air Striker carb. The carb came with #48 pilot, #160 main, DEK needle and #4.5 slide. It will be rode between 0-1000ft elevation. Running 91 octane mixed with Motul 800 2T offroad oil at 32:1.Right now I'm running #168 main, #35 pilot, DGG needle on the 2nd clip, airscrew 3 turns out. It runs decent, plug reads good on topend, but still seems rich on the pilot for some reason? It idles but doesnt idle up very much if I screw the idle in. Also it seems to sputter coming off idle, until it gets up on the needle. So any ideas on a good base line to start with? Any help is much appreciated. draggonass1973@yahoo.com
